🐾 The buddy compendium
Down by the chat send button lives a little retro desktop window, and inside that window lives your buddy: your very own idle companion, hanging out in its yard while you do the actual work of being in class.
Buddies grow from your participation score, not from clicks. Tapping your buddy makes it dance, and that is the entire transaction. It is a free fidget with a heart counter that tracks absolutely nothing of value, which is exactly the point. Dance it all you want. The score does the growing.
How leveling works
Climbing from level L to L+1 costs 10 + 5*(L-1) score points, so early levels arrive fast and late ones feel properly earned. Levels cap at 30, and along the way your buddy evolves through 8 stages, landing at levels 1, 2, 4, 7, 11, 16, 22, and 27. Every buddy names its stages its own way: will.0 starts as a humble Seed and ends as a Radiant willow, and the rest of the roster has its own ladders to discover.
Each buddy also keeps its own level bucket and its own dance count. Switch buddies whenever you like: nothing is ever lost, and an old friend will be exactly as grown (and exactly as danced-with) as you left them.

Retired legends
flippr0 and blendr came off the shelf in the July 2026 roster trim, so they can no longer be bought. If you already own one, relax: it is yours forever, level, dances, and all.
The wardrobe, briefly
Growing is only half the job. There is also looking fantastic:
- Hats. A full shelf, up to and including the Blue partyhat: 999 points, does absolutely nothing, and is priced with love for those who know.
- Pot paints, for will.0 only. The other buddies stand on the ground and are at peace with that.
- Weather, and it stacks: storm, fog, snow, hail, rainbow, and rain can all pile onto one sky if you want your yard to have a very dramatic day.
- Yard life, small critters that wander through and swap to sea creatures in underwater yards, so everyone stays on theme and nobody has to hold their breath.
- Extra skies: starry night (90), northern lights (150), petal breeze (120), and castle keep (150).
